Mini Cannulated Hemi & Met Head Implants
Lag Screws Download Brochure

The Vilex MCHI (Mini Cannulated Hemi Implant) and MMCI (Mini Metatarsal Cannulated Implant) are intended for the replacement of the base of the phalanx or the metatarsal head in lesser MPJs. The design is based on the successful performance of CHI for the big toe. The MCHI is made of titanium and the MMCI is made of cobalt chrome. The surface is spherical, concave or convex as appropriate. The main indications are a deteriorated joint causing pain, and lack of articulation.

*Patent Pending

Post-Operative Considerations

Patient should be warned that the prosthesis device is not a substitute for the natural MPJ and will
not enable the patient to function as if the joint is restored. The patient should avoid an active lifestyle. Excessive motion will accelerate the un- avoidable wear and tear and may loosen the prosthesis. Serious consequences such as fracture or shattering of the phalanx, metal fatigue, or dislocation of the device are possible.

Sterilization

The implant is provided non-sterile. Steam-sterilize the implant tray, implants and instruments, at 270°F for 10 minutes.

Before Proceeding

Without exception or equivocation, Vilex does not recommend the replacement of both the base of the phalanx and the metatarsal head in the same joint. The surgeon should evaluate the overall health of the patient and should consider the patient’s expectations before recommending implant surgery. The patient should be informed that a joint prostheses may loosen, cause fracture, or infection. Some patients exhibit sensitivity to cobalt chrome or titanium.
