CHI® SYSTEM
1st MPJ Cannulated Hemi Implant
FLEXIBLE INTRAOPERATIVE 1ST MPJ HEMI-ARTHROPLASTY

The Vilex CHI Cannulated Metallic Hemi Implant, a hemi-arthroplasty implant for the metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint, is indicated for use in the treatment of patients with degenerative and post-traumatic arthritis in the MTP joint in the presence of good bone stock and integrity of the phalangeal base, along with the following clinical conditions: Hallux Limitus, Hallux Valgus, Hallux Rigidus, and an unstable or painful MTP joint.
Pain of the great toe joint often leads to altered lifestyles. The goal of MPJ implant arthroplasty is to stop the degeneration of cartilage, which is the source of pain, and enable the patient to return to an active lifestyle.
Cannulated hemi implants are designed to resurface the phalangeal base or the metatarsal head. The use CHI Implants offer the patient and surgeon options for future care, including fusion, if necessary.
CHI Design Rationale

Two Options, One System
Elliptical, concave surface provides ROM for joint arthroplasty and mimics phalangeal base
Cannulated system offers precise placement of implant simplifying surgery and reducing OR time
Designed to minimize bone resection to preserve limb length and FHB ligament

Circular, convex surface provides ROM for joint arthroplasty and mimics metatarsal head
Hydroxyapatite (HA) coated stem and back provide initial stability and facilitate bone in-growth
Mirror finished to minimize friction and shaped to maintain ROM without altering foot biomechanics
